Call for Writers

Gloria McMillan is collecting stories of people who grew up in families of steelworkers or as residents in largely steel industry dominated communities for a new collection.  She writes, “Despite the momentous changes in heavy industry and the effects upon families who have or had members engaged in the steel industry, Stacy James and Jimmy Santiago Baca’s 2001 collection of stories by various writers, The Heat: Steelworker Lives and Legends, remains a lone outpost of understanding of this systematic disruption of lives and families as steel mills undergo closures and globalized mergers. The new collection will concentrate on stories by the family members of steel workers, since The Heat was comprised of stories by workers themselves.”  For more information, please email Gloria at glomc@dakotacom.net.
